cover The Complete Idiot's Guide to Beautiful Skin - Marsha Gordon, Alice E. Fugate

I was given this book as a gift and actually learned something from it.  It is lightly defines skin types and how to care for each of them as well as general skincare.  It covers cleaners lotions, creams and the like as well as moisturizers and eye creams although it does not cover many name brands in particular.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Beautiful Skin is helpful to learn basic skincare in plain English, but for the more problematic, with the exception of typical acne, type skin - it is not enough.  This book does cover skin problems thoroughly and is useful for such information.  The book brushed only lightly on lasers and chemical peels as I expected more content regarding this since many people look to physician skincare and more invasive means, completely bypassing less effective measures.

I believe this book is not meant to serve as a skincare textbook or as an introduction to Dermatology but could benefit the teen or uneducated recipient needing a basic lesson in skincare.  All in all I think it is beneficial to persons who do not have frequent or thorough access to the Internet, who need advice on skincare and who cannot afford to consult with a skin specialist.
