The below
procedures' pages are currently underway so keep checking back as these and other
procedures are researched and reported on.
Acne Scar Removal
I have personal experience with this and believe me there are many options, and
sadly not too many of them work. At least many of them don't provide long term results.
From Laser
Resurfacing to chemical peels to aggressive skin care and more -- this section
is long overdue. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact
me so that we can help others. For now you should check out these
links:
Combating Acne
A special section is in the works to help force or coerce acne into submission,
so that we can enjoy life and not have to worry about the above topic in the
future. I still have active adult acne *joy* and find that Retin A or Refinity
AHA.Cosmoderm-7 skin care works pretty well. There are a lot of options and
myths and stigma related to acne so hopefully this section will be up soon.
Facial Exercises
In order for this page to be published it takes LOTS of research. Not only about
the exercises themselves but the legalities of sharing with you the different
techniques. I am almost finished but am in the process of dotting my i's and
crossing my t's so I am not infringing upon any patents. Not that I think you
can patent a movement the human body makes -- but hey, you never know. I'm still
working on it.
On the subject of the efficacy of
facial exercises, there are a few that have actually worked for me. Some people
say it is a bunch of BS but two of them can make my under chin pudge disappear in
a matter of weeks. I kid you not. So, I mean, it DOES work. Here is
that exercise below:
- Tongue Press/Sub-mental
Lift:

Purpose: gets rid of
that awful pudgy, looseness underneath the chin. REALLY WORKS!!
Targets: mylohyoid muscle, a flat triangular muscle on each side
of the mouth that is located above the anterior (front) belly of the digastric
muscle, extends from the inner surface of the mandible to the hyoid bone, and
with its mate on the opposite side forms the floor of the mouth. The muscle
directly under the mouth.
How to: Lace your fingers together, leaving your thumbs sticking out or
use the middle part of your index fingers (between the two joints) as if you
were saying "Grace" with your index fingers sticking partially up.
Push up on the chin with your thumbs. At the same time, press your tongue to the
roof of your mouth. This will cause the your chin muscle to push against your
thumbs.
Am I doing this correctly? If you feel a tautness to your under
chin area directly after you should be able to tell. Also it doesn't take long
for improvement if you have little or medium laxity of the muscle and NOT lots
of loose, mature skin.
As far as the
exercises on the delicate facial skin, especially around the thin peri-ocular skin and
the possibility of making matters worse -- I truly do not know.
Please see our YTF! Beauty Report
Message Board for more information as quite a few of the girls there have
done it and have noticed considerable improvement.
Mesotherapy:
A Cure All?
A series of customized injections into the mesodermic layer of your problem
areas can help rid you of cellulite, fat, skin problems, induce collagen
synthesis and more. Check back soon for more information!
Reconstructive
Surgery
Traumatic injury to that face, neck, nose, ears and lips can
cause an unsightly appearance and a loss of function. Most patients have a general idea
that something may be done to improve either the appearance (most common), function or
both. In most instances much improvement can be gained by a properly planned and executed
repair of the problem. The operations for repair or generally done in several stages.
Each
stage is planned to allow the healing process and to accomplish specific goals.
This type
of surgery is generally very satisfying to the patient and the physician alike.
The operations performed depend upon the problem.
They are done
under local anesthesia. Operations of this nature in children are most often performed
under general anesthesia while in adults they are most often performed under Light Sleep
Anesthesia (which I have had in all of my procedures). The techniques involved may be to
rotate, move or attempt to hide a visible scar into a region that is less visible and to
render the scar itself less visible. Sometimes, tissue may be taken from
other areas of the body. Occasionally, a synthetic material may be used to recreate
natural architecture (underlying form or bone).
Though this surgery can be very rewarding.
There are some
constraints of which the patient must be aware. The final result may not be apparent for
one or one and a half years after the initiation of the revision process. The patient will
have to participate in the process and follow instructions very carefully.
Meticulous
attention to detail by the surgeon in the planning and execution of the repair must be
matched with the same attention by the patient during the healing phase.
It is sad to say that not always is a surgeon, no matter how
great, able to completely replicate that of which nature does so well. Improvement can be
dramatic but perfection and restoration as if there never existed a problem is never
possible. At least not yet.
Stereolithography
& Facial Implants
Stereolithography (also known as SOL/SAL/SL) is the process of creating three
dimensional (3-D), 1:1 sculptures using a combination of Computer Tomography
(CT) scans, LASERS and a photo-sensitive liquid resin. After these sculptures
are made implants can be cast to fit the patient exactly. With tissue
measurements and age projection -- technicians can even project through In
clinical applications, Stereolithography is used mainly for craniomaxillofacial
surgery for patients in need of reconstruction. Custom implants and titanium
plates can be made to reconstruct or fortify bone damage, loss or absence due to
trauma, bone degenerative disease or congenital deformities.
Stereolithography can also be used for spot-on custom fit implants in any
cosmetic or reconstructive procedure if you are willing to fork over the money
for a 1:1 scale of your own skull or relative body part. Costs can tally up to
$1,300. Please check back soon for more information on this prototyping process
in clinical use.
