Botox Baby!!

Finally I had my Botox injections!  I have gone round and round with making appointments only to have to postpone due to being on antibiotics or scheduling conflicts.  I have literally tortured M with instant messages and emails and such regarding this subject!!  LOL!

I scheduled with Dr. Regina Hamlin who is the head of the Botox Training Center which is located in Fresno, CA.  She has been on TV and in the news locally quite a bit lately and she came highly recommended.  I really don't have any lines to speak of, but even though my pics don't show incredibly well, trust me, I had this HORRIBLE deep line in the middle of my brows that I compared to the Grand Canyon!!

I'm a 35 year old teacher, a wife, and a mother of an awesome almost 8 year old girl.  I've always tried to take very good care of my face and one of my best friends has been working with me on products from her cosmetic line.  Although it's a great line, it can't correct the one line or crease that bothered me the most.   I could hide it when I was just going through my daily activities, but with any major expression, especially when I was squinting due to sun or strain to see something, oh my goodness, how it would show!  My makeup would crease there and I was just sick of it!

I went in on Friday, December 13th and was in and out within 15 minutes.  Dr. Hamlin was so pleasant and her staff was very friendly.  She marked off the areas that she planned on injecting and discussed the shots and asked if I had any questions.  Questions?  Me???  She could have taken a scalpel at that point and told me she was going to do a lobotomy and I would have said to go for it!!  LOL!  My husband and my 7 year old went in with me and they said I had the look of determination set in my eyes!  She laid me back on her exam room table, not all the way back, but just slightly.  She had me turn my head towards her to my left side and she just injected away.  There were 5 injections total and a 1/2 cc was used.  It really didn't hurt and I wouldn't even say it was an uncomfortable experience. I felt and heard a "crunching" as she did the injections and that was it.  It was like a tiny little pinch in the area she was injecting and totally not painful.  When I was done she gave me some post procedure instructions, and I was on my way.  I did have some marks on my forehead that were red and looked like mosquito bites and I thought to myself, "Oh my gosh, I have my daughter's opening of "Annie" tonight!"  They were gone by the time I got in my car.  I got home, took a shower, and was off for the night, without any trace of the earlier procedure.  She did inject above my eyebrows to give me some lift.  I felt that nice tight feeling that night, and I still feel it and it's a wonderful feeling.  The middle stubborn line is fading quickly and as I write this to Marianne, I'm post procedure 3 days and 6 hours.  I had no side effects and am looking forward to seeing the gradual results of the Botox.  I highly recommend this procedure and hope that you'll email me if you have any questions or would like more information.

Update!
Went in for a touch up on the Botox on the 24th.  I was two months post injection from my first visit.  I was happy with the results but that one crease in the middle, you know, the Grand Canyon one, was still coming alive.  This time, Dr. Regina Hamlin's husband, Dr. Ed Hamlin, did the injections.  He administered 1/2 cc and was aggressive in that area of concern to me.  He also used some of the Botox under my eyes and I sure love the results.  I consulted with him on Collagen and will probably see him in the next few months about that in the lips as well as a bit in my Nasolabial folds.
Just thought I'd update that my redo was of no charge and was very happy with how professional their office is and that they both really care about the happiness and results of their patients.

Botox Update 11/29/03
I had another batch of injections done on Halloween.  I went this time to my plastic surgeon's surgical nurse, Sonya.  She was wonderful and beautiful to boot!  Again, I felt no pain or even discomfort.  Within days I saw the results and even now, a month later, the once pesky wrinkle, is GONE!  The cost for this round of injections was $300..and well spent!  I'm really happy with the results and feel like Botox is just something that I like doing to correct the wrinkles that I don't like seeing.  I look forward to adding the before and after pics soon.  I need to go back in to see Sonya so she can take the after pics and I'll get them to M so that she can get them up with the Journal.  Again, if any of you have any questions or comments about Botox or any other aesthetic issues, please feel free to email me at marlo@enhancementmedia.com.
