We
taped and taped and taped. Roseann was so funny. She had never done anything like this and
it was so cute. She was so excited and nervous and just could not act like the
camera was not there at first. She is a good friend of mine, we met when I came in as a
walk-in and sat down at her table, handed her my
hands and said "fix me". I loved her personality and even though at the time her
nail work was average (she is now very professional and talented) I liked her and knew I
wanted her to be my manicurist. She has also visited women in the hospital to do their
nails. We all agree that it actually boosts the happiness level being pampered while
bedridden in the stark dreariness of the hospital. However, some hospitals will not allow
this due to the smell of the chemicals.
Finally, we were finished and the soundman
realized the darn wire mics weren't on and only the camera's mic picked up the sound feed.
UGH! All that lost. It is doubtful they will even be able to use The Salon footage due to
the poor sound quality.
We stopped taping at about 9:30 PM - almost 12 hours from
the start of our busy day. We had to drive C.M. to the airport to catch the last flight
back to L.A. - she missed her first flight and if she didn't make this one she was staying
here with us. All in all it was a fun day. I was in the company of great people and lost
my fear of the professional camera. Now, we'll have to wait and see what the execs
think...
UPDATE! Well,
through the grapevine I heard that Disney accepted the pilot and that it was up to John
Stossel whether or not he wanted to go through with the contract or not. Then I heard that
the pilot went a little different than what the director was aiming for. First off, most
of the audience wasn't over 20 years old. Therefore having no complains of wrinkles and
what not, that they would seek cosmetic surgery for. The group was more fit to appear on
"Jerry Springer" and not a show attempting to replace Oprah.
Also, I NEVER received that promised
videotaped copy of the program. Of course, not... I should have got it in writing.
There is no such thing as a person's word "in the business".
Lesson learned. Although, I must say that there would have been no photos had Marc not
snuck the camera in the studio - they would have taken the film away. I will attempt to
call some of the staff although I am sure that their phone numbers are no longer
operational. Wouldn't that figure. By the way, a friend that is familiar "in the
business" told me that I should "get it in writing". Well, I didn't. And I
don't have a tape, do I?
